Problem context

The sun is setting, but homes, schools and public spaces still need electricity. What if students could generate clean energy from sunlight, wind, footsteps, vibrations or other available energy sources and put it to practical use?

Problem statement

Theme: Energy generation and harvesting

Design an innovative energy generation or harvesting solution that captures available energy and converts it into useful power for a real-world application. The solution should demonstrate how energy can be generated, recovered or utilised efficiently using engineering, sensing, data or automation.

Areas you will work on:

  • Renewable energy generation
  • Energy harvesting from footsteps, vibrations, heat or motion
  • Energy storage and efficient utilisation
  • Smart energy monitoring and optimisation
  • Connected systems and automated energy management

Expected outcome

A working prototype that demonstrates an innovative way to generate or harvest energy and use it to address a real-world need, with measurable output and a clear explanation of its practical benefits.

What to deliver

A functional prototype demonstrating the energy generation or harvesting process, including its application, a demonstration of its working principle, and measurements of energy output or efficiency in a realistic scenario.
